Hiring Summary

The LGBTQ Student Resource Center (LGBTQ SRC) is a tri-institutional, student fee funded department. We strive to improve the campus climate for LGBTQ students by fostering acceptance and understanding through educating the campus community about gender, sexuality, and other relevant topics. We develop programs with the intention of uniting diverse communities of people. Lastly, we provide support services and growth opportunities for LGBTQ students to realize their fullest potential.

Student Marketing Coordinator

The Student Marketing Coordinator is a student staff position, responsible for creating and supporting the center’s marketing and outreach efforts. There are two Student Marketing Coordinator positions. Both positions support the creation of promotional materials. One position maintains the center’s social media presence, while the other maintains the center’s website. These positions assist with the daily operations of the LGBTQ SRC and each report to the professional staff of the center. The LGBTQ Student Resource Center is a part of the Equity & Student Engagement team, which reports to the Student Engagement & Well-being unit of the Division of Student Affairs at MSU Denver.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Create marketing materials for center events and services as needed (graphic design, flyers, swag, etc.)
  • Maintain an engaging and accessible presence for the center via social media and/or the center’s website
  • Support unique marketing plans for events and services (flyers, sidewalk chalk, presentations, etc.)
  • Assist in providing support, educational information, and relevant resources to the campus community
  • Staff the front desk and provide direct service to center visitors such as referrals or resources to different campus and community partners
  • Perform administrative tasks including completing daily office to-do lists, restocking tabling box supplies, checking and responding to office emails, buttoning, and stocking office resources
  • Keep social space, front desk, and library area organized, clean, and supplied with updated information
  • Participate in Auraria workshops and events as needed, and attend regularly scheduled staff meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in at least 6 credits at MSU Denver, Community College of Denver, or University of Colorado Denver with a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Knowledgeable about concepts related to gender and sexuality
  • Comfortable working with people from a variety of cultures and identities
  • Strong communication skills and public speaking
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in creating promotional materials for an organization, using Adobe InDesign, Canva or similar platforms
  • Experience managing social media or a web presence for an organization
  • Knowledgeable about digital accessibility and methods for minimizing disability-related barriers
  • Knowledgeable about Auraria campus and the resources available to students
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills including the ability to independently prioritize work, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set goals, and enforce deadlines, while maintaining the flexibility to reassess and prioritize goals

Pay rate: $18.29/hour

Work Hours

Approximately 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Occasionally nights and weekend

Student Office Coordinator

The Student Office Coordinator is a student staff position, responsible for maintaining organization within the center’s physical space, as well as ensuring effective center processes. This position assists with the daily operations of the LGBTQ SRC and reports to the professional staff of the center. The LGBTQ Student Resource Center is a part of the Equity & Student Engagement team, which reports to the Student Engagement & Well-being unit of the Division of Student Affairs at MSU Denver.

  • Help organize the center’s media library and sustain item check out/return processes
  • Help maintain inventory of campus and community resources as needed
  • Support LGBTQ SRC team members and guests in learning and maintaining office procedures
  • Assist in providing support, educational information, and relevant resources to the campus community
  • Staff the front desk and provide direct service to center visitors such as referrals or resources to different campus and community partners
  • Perform administrative tasks including completing daily office to-do lists, restocking tabling box supplies, checking and responding to office emails, buttoning, and stocking office resources
